I’ve been on maternity leave for almost three weeks now, and aside from going on honeymoon last year this will be the longest I have ever been off work.
Ok so it sounds great, hours of aimless wandering around the house, eating chocolate and napping in the middle of the day – but I wasn’t quite prepared for how bored I would start to get once all the chores were done 10 times over.
The freezer is stacked, the house is as spotless as it’s ever going to be – baking, gardening, long phone calls to old friends – DONE. So now what?
Well, as luck would have it just yesterday a great friend of mine sent me in the post a ball of wool, a crochet hook and a magazine Crochet Today, together with a post it note – Laura, keep those fingers busy L x
So now the challenge is on – I need to learn to crochet……. not least to keep me busy, but also I suppose to save money on blankets when the baby finally arrives in around two-ish weeks.
I’m not going to be able to learn in two weeks, but it’s time to get started.
Yesterday I learnt how to make a foundation chain and then cautiously moved on to the single crochet stitch. I feel this needs some work, and despite watching a demo on YouTube about three times over it took some time to figure out….. must practice this one!
So, for today – more practice at single crotchet and possible moving onto double crotchet, if I can figure out the diagrams….. Wish me luck! XX
